Meet our new mechanic, Daniel!

At the end of May the Saga Subsea team was extended, and we welcome Daniel Tjoflot and his great skills as both a mechanic and welder.

Daniel Tjoflot is a versatile and hard-working guy. This makes him a great fit here at Saga Subsea.

The 22-year-old began his career as an apprentice at Aibel to become a welder. After passing his diploma with flying colours, he wanted to learn and develop even further and started as an industrial mechanic at Baker Huges, gathering experience from well technology and drilling.

At the end of May we were proud to welcome him to the Saga Subsea team! Daniel brings with him an impressive amount of knowledge and ambition and he has already settled in here at Killingøy.

– There are no days that are the same at Saga Subsea. I get to challenge myself on a variety of different projects which tackle a range of different challenges and issues. These first couple of months the workload has mainly been a lot of welding, but also a great deal of mechanical work, he explains.

Attracted by the challenges

The variety throughout the workday was one of the main reasons Tjoflot decided to apply for work at Saga Subsea. In advance he had heard great things about our company and the solutions we deliver to the offshore industry.

– I had heard a lot of good things from friends and acquaintances. I’d also gotten an insight into all the exciting projects Saga Subsea works on through their digital presence, and that sparked my curiosity about the firm, he says.

Tjoflot describes his start at Saga Subsea as a positive surprise.

– From day one it’s been a pleasant experience. The colleagues are great, and my work tasks are interesting. The best part of the job must be the working environment and the welding jobs that require independent and creative thinking to make custom modifications to different parts, he explains.

When hobby and work blend

When you don’t find Daniel busy with a project at work, chances are that you’ll find him working on a project at home. Rarely a day goes by that doesn’t include welding or a wrench in hand.

– You see – a lot of my spare time is spent working on old American cars, he smiles.

The passion for classic American cars also comes with plenty of mechanical work and welding, and Tjoflot believes that might be the reason for why he finds the job at Killingøy so fulfilling.

– Here at Saga Subsea I get to work with the kind of stuff that I really care about and am interested in. And that’s probably a big part of why I enjoy the job so much.

So welcome aboard, Daniel! We can’t wait to see more of your impeccable problem-solving skills and high-quality work!
